I'm Jess, and I love to draw.
I create children's picture book illustrations, using traditional media such as watercolors, colored pencils, pastels, and collage.
I believe in making books that respect children's intelligence and creativity—after all, they are experts at imagination.
For grown up readers, I hope my illustrations offer a gateway to worlds that are whimsical and cozy.
My work draws inspiration from nature, traditional arts and handicrafts, and the timeless power of storytelling.
Beyond illustration, I paint custom portraits of people, animals, and houses. My portraits have been featured in publications such as CNY Magazine.
I also teach art to students of all ages and abilities here in upstate New York. In my classes and workshops, students learn how to silence their inner critic and access their own unique artistic voice.
When I'm not in the studio, you'll likely find me at the library, at home baking challah, or exploring the outdoors with my two young daughters.
Feel free to say hi!
